The challenge: floor plans no one could fully trust

Before Archilogic, keeping floor plans accurate was slow and expensive. Whenever a space changed, the teams had to reach out to people across the organization to understand what had actually happened on the ground, and every modification meant a costly architect redesign followed by several layers of validation. In practice, changes were collected and handed to an external architect once a year, so the plans were chronically out of sync with the actual state of the labs and offices.

The result was a familiar enterprise problem:

  • Floor plans drifted out of date. Reality changed faster than the once-a-year redesign cycle could capture.
  • Every change carried cost and delay. Even minor adaptations triggered a formal, architect-dependent redesign process that was neither scalable nor sustainable at Sanofi's size.
  • The systems around the building could not talk to each other. The CMMS held maintenance and asset data independently, the workplace application showed site overviews disconnected from the floor plans, Evelity supported accessibility navigation without live spatial context, and XY Sense captured occupancy data with no pathway into space management workflows. Each system held valuable data; none of them spoke to one another.

Sanofi wanted something simpler: the ability to make changes in-house, without extra cost or delay, on plans the whole organization could trust.

Vision: one spatial source of truth

Sanofi set out to make Archilogic the central tool for its Real Estate and Workplace Experience teams: a single source of truth for both space design and the data attached to it. Instead of maintaining space information in many disconnected places, the teams would maintain it once, in Archilogic, and let every connected system draw from the same foundation.

The guiding idea is straightforward. The more systems connected to one accurate, shared model of the space, the more value each of them delivers.

Solution: Archilogic as the spatial system of record

Edit once, in-house

With Archilogic, Sanofi's teams update floor plans themselves in an intuitive, web-based editor that does not require AutoCAD or an architecture background. Changes that used to be collected all year and handed to an external architect are now completed directly by the teams closest to the space: published immediately, with fewer errors, because nothing is lost relaying change requests to a third party. The teams gain control over their own data and processes, and a single edit becomes the new source of truth for everything downstream.

Archilogic now serves as the live record of Sanofi's labs and offices. Teams monitor the current status of spaces, track modifications as they happen, and keep a comprehensive view of the footprint: total square meters by type (labs, offices) and by floor, supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic real estate decisions. Asset tracking extends that record to lab infrastructure; with taps recently added as a tracked asset type, teams see the availability of gas and water taps in every lab.

A model any site can run

Sanofi runs a repeatable operating model at the site level: a single site coordinator, a designated super-user who handles changes, and a small number of day-to-day operators behind them. This keeps the plans current without depending on specialist staff, and it scales cleanly from one site to the next.

A connected workplace: breaking the silos

The payoff is what happens once accurate plans become the shared foundation for the rest of Sanofi's workplace stack: systems that used to be siloed reading from, and writing to, the same spatial model. The first integration is already live, and the others are actively underway.

Accessibility navigation, with Evelity

A live connection with Evelity helps people with disabilities navigate Sanofi sites with greater confidence and independence. By grounding accessibility navigation in accurate, current floor plan data, Sanofi has made its workplaces meaningfully more inclusive, and accessibility improves automatically as the plans stay current.

Maintenance (CMMS)

Sanofi's maintenance management system (CMMS) is being connected to Archilogic so that the exact, current location of equipment and changes is always reflected against an accurate plan. Once complete, maintenance activities and asset modifications will be mapped directly on the plans: teams acting on the building as it is, not on a drawing that is out of date.

The workplace application

Sanofi's corporate workplace application will use Archilogic to deliver rich site overviews, helping visitors navigating a large campus for the first time and employees working across multiple sites orient themselves with accurate, visually intuitive site information.

Occupancy and sensor data, with XY Sense

Occupancy data from XY Sense, which can be fully anonymised, will feed directly into Archilogic, turning raw sensor readings into actionable spatial insight: a live picture of how space is actually used and the ability to adapt it to how employees behave. Because Sanofi edits its plans once in Archilogic, room, layout, and furniture changes propagate to XY Sense automatically.

Results and impact

Control and speed. Floor plan updates are handled by the teams themselves instead of an external vendor. What was once an annual, batched redesign process is now immediate: turnaround is faster because nobody waits for a third party, accuracy is higher because change requests are no longer relayed and reinterpreted, and the teams keep control over their own data and processes.

A live record of the estate. Archilogic tracks the current status of labs and offices and the total space in use, square meters by type and by floor, and extends to lab infrastructure such as gas and water taps. Decisions rest on real-time spatial data instead of assumptions.

Consistent reporting. A single source of truth brings consistency to occupancy and space reporting, aligning management reporting with the other data-driven applications used across Sanofi.

Connected systems, automatically informed. Publishing an update automatically notifies connected applications, so every system that depends on current floor plans receives the latest version promptly. That removes the email-a-revised-plan-around routine and the risk of an updated plan being overlooked or never distributed.

A more inclusive workplace. The live Evelity integration gives employees and visitors with disabilities reliable, spatially accurate navigation support.

Global standardization. Adopting one platform across locations aligns processes and data management practices throughout Sanofi, making space-related data consistent and reliable worldwide.

The direction of the financial impact is consistent across the portfolio: reduced architect costs, time saved by eliminating the annual batching process, and faster decision-making on real-time data. Work is underway to consolidate savings data across regions, which will further strengthen the quantified business case.

What is next

The immediate roadmap is completing the integrations already underway: CMMS for maintenance tracking on the live plans, the workplace application for site overviews, and XY Sense occupancy data for space utilization analytics. Beyond those, Sanofi and Archilogic have identified further opportunities: visualizing piping systems within the floor plans, mapping the coverage areas of badge readers, and expanding asset tracking beyond taps to additional infrastructure types.

Each completed integration also compounds the foundation for what comes after. A connected, current spatial model is what makes the estate legible to AI: agents that can query the space, analyze how it is used, and propose how it should change. With a proven model in place, the approach can scale across Sanofi's global real estate footprint.

Real estate is one of the largest enterprise costs and one of the world's largest asset classes, yet spatial data is too often locked in static drawings and disconnected tools.
